Chinese Ambassador to Timor Leste Xiao Jianguo considers building infrastructure an important aspect of Sino-Timor Leste co-operation, the Chinese Embassy in Dili says.

A written statement issued by the embassy quotes Mr Xiao as saying so when he met a delegation of the infrastructure, transport and communication committee of the Timor Leste legislature.

Mr Xiao said Chinese companies with the technology to build roads, bridges, airports and ports, and with experience of building them, were willing to work to develop the economy of Timor Leste.

The ambassador said his government considered engagement with the Timor Leste legislature important, and expressed hope that there will be more exchanges between Chinese and Timor Leste lawmakers, the Chinese Embassy statement says.
