The Chinese Embassy in Lisbon has said the Portugal-China: Trilateral Co-operation under the Belt and Road Initiative conference took place in Lisbon last week.

The embassy issued a written announcement saying it jointly arranged the international conference with the Institute for the Promotion of Latin America and the Caribbean.

The announcement says over 200 guests, including Chinese and lusophone government officials, businesspeople and academics attended.

They analysed opportunities for Sino-Portuguese co-operation arising from the Chinese Belt and Road initiative, and the prospects for trilateral co-operation among China, Portugal, other lusophone countries, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.

Speakers expressed their belief that China, Portugal and other countries could co-operate in the fields of infrastructure, energy, transport, agriculture and healthcare, the Chinese Embassy announcement says.
