Chinese Ambassador to Cabo Verde Du Xiaocong has said increasing numbers of Cabo Verdeans are being trained in China to do various jobs, the Chinese Embassy in Praia says.

The embassy issued a written statement quoting Mr Du as saying so at a gathering attended by Cabo Verdeans awarded Chinese government scholarships to study in China.

Mr Du said Sino-Cabo Verdean cooperation in education contributed to the development of Cabo Verdean society and the Cabo Verdean economy.

Cabo Verdean Minister of Education Maritza Rosabal expressed her gratitude for the Chinese government scholarships awarded to Cabo Verdeans who, she said, could help develop their country when they returned from China, the Chinese Embassy in Praia says.
