An adviser in Portugal to China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Co. Ltd (CCTEB) has said the state-owned company aims to buy into or set up consortiums with Portuguese partners, Jornal de Negócios reports.

The Portuguese newspaper quotes the adviser, Y Ping Chow, as saying CCTEB is seeking help in building housing and in bidding to build infrastructure in Brazil, lusophone parts of Africa and Morocco.

Mr Chow said the company was particularly keen on bidding for work on expanding the southern Portuguese port of Sines, and for work on the construction of a new airport in Montijo, near Portugal’s capital Lisbon.

CCTEB has been in contact with potential partners for at least six months, and representatives of CCTEB recently visited Portugal for talks with them, Jornal de Negócios says.

CCTEB is a subsidiary of China State Construction Engineering Corp. Ltd. The Portuguese arm of the parent company bought in July 50 percent of a venture to develop property in Oeiras, near Lisbon.
