The head of trade and investment authority Cabo Verde TradeInvest, Ana Lima Barber, has said Macao Bringbuys Web Technology is considering doubling its investment in an information technology project in Cabo Verde to over US$40 million, the Macau News Agency (MNA) reports.

MNA says Ms Barber said so on Tuesday in Macao, where she is due to attend the Macao International Trade and Investment Fair, which opens tomorrow.

The report says Macao Bringbuys, Cabo Verde Information Society Operational Nucleus (NOSI) and Centre for Renewable Energies and Industrial Maintenance (CERMI) intend to build in Cabo Verde a cloud computing centre, an offshore data centre, training facilities and business incubators.

They would begin by building the computing centre and later giving training, before then expanding the project into the African continent.

The Cabo Verdean authorities and Macao Bringbuys started negotiations about the project two years ago and reached agreement on it last year, MNA says.
