Representatives of companies in the southern Chinese city of Foshan and companies in the Portuguese-speaking world have attended a meeting in Foshan to learn about doing business in each other’s home markets, the Foshan News website reports.

The government-run website says nearly 150 representatives of companies in Foshan, the lusophone world and Macao attended the meeting.

The report quotes a Foshan city official, Huang Tie, as saying that so far two Foshan companies have together invested US$6.6 million in lusophone countries, while seven companies in the Portuguese-speaking world have together invested US$156,300 in Foshan.

Foshan is commercially notable for its farming and e-commerce, the report says.

The Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute and the Foshan authorities jointly arranged the meeting, the Foshan News website says.
