The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply says the Chinese authorities have given 13 more Brazilian slaughterhouses permission to export meat to China, Reuters reports.

The news agency, citing a written statement issued by the ministry on Tuesday, says five of the slaughterhouses produce beef, five produce pork and three produce poultry flesh.

The report quotes an association of Brazilian processors of beef, Abiec, as saying 37 Brazilian slaughterhouses now have permission to export beef to China.

It quotes the association of Brazilian processors of poultry and pork, ABPA, as saying 16 Brazilian slaughterhouses producing pork and 46 producing chicken now have permission to export to China.

Brazil must now increase its sales of pork to China, Reuters quotes ABPA President Francisco Turra as saying.
