Mozambique’s President Filipe Nyusi has inspected work on a road being built by China Construction Eighth Engineering Division Corp. Ltd, the parent company of the contractor says.
The parent company, China State Construction Engineering Corp. (CSCEC), issued a written statement quoting Mr Nyusi as saying the road will help the economy and create jobs.
The president said the road project would strengthen the friendship between China and Mozambique.
The 287-km road will connect the western Mozambican province of Manica to the port city of Beira in the east of the country. Construction began in April 2015 and is due to be completed in April, CSCEC says.
