A delegation from the southern Chinese province of Fujian visited São Tomé and Príncipe on 20 and 21 June, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute says.

IPIM issued a written statement saying the visitors had meetings with Prime Minister Patrice Trovoada and Chinese Ambassador to São Tomé and Príncipe Wang Wei.

The institute says they discussed economic co-operation, including co-operation in fisheries and other forms of exploitation of the sea.

The party, accompanied by officials of the institute, had previously attended the Meeting of Entrepreneurs for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, held in the Cape Verdean capital, Praia, and the Forum of Business Opportunities between Portugal, China and Macau, held in Lisbon.

Their visit to São Tomé and Príncipe reciprocated a visit to Fujian by Mr Trovoada in April, IPIM says.
