A party of Chinese healthcare practitioners has arrived in Angola to strengthen the effort there to counter the Covid-19 pandemic, and to treat severely ill patients, Jornal de Angola reports.

The newspaper quotes an Angolan government official, Franco Mufinda, as saying the 10-strong party will work for 15 days at the Covid-19 treatment centres in the Luanda-Bengo Special Economic Zone and in Barra do Kwanza, both near the capital.

The Chinese will give instruction online to Angolan healthcare workers in other parts of the country, Jornal de Angola quotes Mr Mufinda as saying.

Separately, a report by government-run China Central Television quotes Chinese Ambassador to Luanda Gong Tao as saying the medical mission is a manifestation of the Sino-Angolan strategic partnership.
