China National Nuclear Corp. is in talks to co-operate in building a nuclear power plant in Brazil, reports Brazilian news agency Agência Brasil.
Eletrobrás Termonuclear SA – Eletronuclear, which operates Brazil’s nuclear power plants, signed a memorandum of understanding in Beijing last week that may lead to China National Nuclear help complete Brazil’s third plant, the Angra 3, in Angra dos Reis, 150 km southwest of Rio de Janeiro.
Eletronuclear’s adviser for new nuclear plants, Marcelo Gomes, was quoted as saying the experience of the Chinese company could assist in completing construction work on time.
