Work to extend a highway connecting Bissau to Guinea-Bissau’s international airport will be paid for by Mainland China, Macauhub reports.
The website cites Guinea-Bissau’s Minister of Public Works, Construction and Urban Planning, Malam Banjai, who said a Chinese company will undertake the work backed with funding by Beijing.
Mr Banjai made the comments at the opening ceremony for the second phase of a solar-powered lighting project, also funded by the Mainland.
Chinese Ambassador Wang Hua told the guests the Mainland would continue to support Guinea-Bissau in the fight against poverty and underdevelopment.
