Activity in Brazil’s service sector rebounded in September, with its revenues growing by 6.4 percent from a year earlier, data from the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics showed this week.
The growth was higher than the rates recorded in July and August, with increases of 4.6 percent and 4.5 percent respectively.
In the 12 months to September 30, the country’s service sector grew by 7.1 percent year-on-year. The growth rate in the first 10 months of 2014 stood at 6.6 percent, said Brazil’s statistics institute.
Contributing to September’s growth was the increase in revenues in professional, administrative and complementary services, which grew by 11.1 percent year-on-year. Information and communication services, on the other hand, recorded the lowest growth, with 2.7 percent year-on-year.
