Trade in merchandise between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$90.874 billion in the period from January to December 2016. It represented a 7.72 percent decline year-on-year, according to data from China Customs.

Portuguese-speaking Countries sold goods worth US$61.284 billion to China in 2016 – a drop of 1.64 percent year-on-year. The value of China’s merchandise exports to those countries reached US$29.590 billion in the same period, down 18.19 percent year-on-year, according to Chinese official data.

The total value of merchandise traded in December between the parties topped US$7.644 billion, down 1.23 percent from the previous month.

The value of China’s merchandise imports from Portuguese-speaking Countries reached US$4.740 billion, down 1.70 percent month-to-month, according to Chinese official data. China sold goods to those countries worth US$2.904 billion in December, a decrease of 0.45 percent compared with November.
