Shandong, a province in eastern China, plans to boost its investment in Mozambique, said Shandong’s governor, Guo Shuqing.
He met last week with Filipe Nyusi, Mozambique’s President, in Jinan, capital of Shandong, Mozambican newspaper Notícias reported.
The value of investment in the African nation by companies from Shandong totalled US$140 million last year, bringing the accumulated investment from Shandong firms in Mozambique to more than US$200 million, Mr Guo said.
He added that a business delegation led by a deputy governor of the province would visit Mozambique soon to strengthen the existing ties.
Mr Nyusi paid his first official visit to China last week, staying for six days. He had meetings with respectively, China’s President Xi Jinping, and China’s Premier Li Keqiang. The two countries agreed to strengthen industrial co-operation, as well as to elevate their ties to the status of a comprehensive strategic partnership, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua had earlier reported.
