A Macao-based trade association for wine and food firms has hosted a seminar on how Portuguese companies in those sectors can enter the Mainland China market.

The event was held in Portugal’s capital Lisbon on March 1, the newspaper Macao Daily News reported on Sunday.

It was organised by the Macao Federal Commercial Association of Wine and Food Industries in Portuguese-speaking Countries and Regions. It was supported by the Economic and Commercial Delegation of Macao office in Portugal, based in Lisbon.

Ip Sio Man, president of the trade association, was quoted as having told seminar attendees that in May 2014 the association had set up in Shanghai an exhibition centre for wine and food products from Portuguese-speaking Countries. The centre aimed to help the launch of such products in the Mainland market, he added.

The Shanghai centre had achieved “quite an outstanding result” and there were plans for similar ones in the cities Changsha, Chongqing and Ningbo, Mr Ip said.
