Leonel Pontes announced a few days ago, with a long message on social media, that he is the new technical director of Shanghai Shenhua, currently second in the Chinese soccer league. 

"The time has come to share with you my new challenge in the world of soccer. Over 28 years, I've had the incredible opportunity to coach teams in various countries, such as Portugal, Spain, Greece, Hungary and Egypt. Now, I'm ready for a new chapter. I've accepted the invitation to become Technical Director of Shanghai Shenhua in China," he began on his Instagram page.

He continued: "I'm very proud to be working for one of the clubs with the most history and tradition in China. Through my passion for the game and the experience I've gained over the years, I believe I'll be able to help further develop the structure of this giant institution."
