Brazil imported 9.1 GW of solar panels from China in the first half of 2023, according to a survey by Infolink Consulting. The result is similar to that recorded in the same period last year, with only marginal growth. In June, 1.2 GW of Chinese photovoltaic modules entered the country, down 7% from May.

According to the analysis, the monthly result indicates a slowdown in the pace of inventory reduction, following a strong pace of solar power installations in the first quarter, due to regulatory changes in the credit compensation system for distributed generation.

In total, China exported 106.1 GW of solar panels in the first half of the year, an increase of 35% over the same period in 2022, indicating strong demand from the international market. The main importer of Chinese equipment was Europe, with 62.4 GW in the semester, an increase of 47%.
