Representatives of Bank of China Macao Branch (BOC Macao) visited Portugal last week to promote yuan business among Portuguese lenders and companies, Macao newspaper Macao Daily News reported.
BOC Macao held three seminars in Lisbon and Porto last week under the theme of “Promoting yuan business in Portuguese-speaking Countries”. The seminars in total attracted more than 160 representatives of lenders and enterprises of Portuguese-speaking Countries, the newspaper noted.
The report quoted the Chinese lender – which is majority-owned by the state – as saying the visit could “enhance the cross-border yuan business in banks and companies of Portuguese-speaking Countries,” as well as strengthen the role of Macao as a commerce service platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
BOC Macao also invited representatives of the Macao Chamber of Commerce and the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute to address those attending the three seminars.
