Chinese-led China-Africa Project Hope last week launched the second stage of its project to build primary schools in Africa, including Mozambique, Chinese state-run news agency Xinhua reported.

Under this initiative, about 20 schools will be donated to Mozambique, Zambia, Ethiopia, Uganda and Malawi.

The project is backed by several Chinese companies, according to programme Chairman Lu Junqing. He noted there was “no conditions attached to the project”.

“We wish people all over the world can see the growth of China will not threaten anyone,” Mr Lu said, quoted by Xinhua.

According to the Chinese news agency, the World Eminent Chinese Business Association, the China Youth Development Foundation and TOJOY Happiness Holding Group launched the China-Africa Project Hope in 2010. The first stage included the sponsoring of the construction of 23 primary schools in five other African countries.

The aim of the project is to build about 1,000 schools across Africa.
