Cargill's entry into the Brazilian natural sweeteners market, announced on September 5, marks the company's entry into a segment that earns approximately R$1 billion per year.

The company informed that it is bringing to Brazil three brands of dietary sweeteners and ingredients for the industry (cakes, breads, sweets, drinks, dairy products and others). The brands are Truvia, aimed at industrial and end consumer use, EverSweet and ViaTech. The last two are for industrial use only.

The raw material used in the three brands of stevia-based sweeteners will be purchased from properties in China and processed at facilities in the United States.

There are no plans to originate in Brazil, because Chinese supply is more competitive, according to Cargill's general director of Food Solutions in South America, Laerte Morais.
