The Chinese Government has invited “third-party institutes” to assess the effects of its economic policies and other measures taken so far this year, reported Xinhua, an official news agency.

A statement released by China’s State Council on Friday said the evaluations on whether the policies had achieved “desired results” would be ready by the end of August.

The policies under scrutiny include those meant to help small- and micro-sized enterprises, as well as those designed to streamline administrative procedures and improve support for innovative businesses.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang was quoted as saying the review process could “assist the State Council in implementing different policies”.

The third-party institutions undertaking the checks include the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Development Research Centre of the State Council, and the Chinese Academy of Governance. All of them are closely linked to the Chinese Government.

The evaluations will measure – via home and business visits and online surveys – people’s satisfaction with the policies, according to the report.
