Foz do Iguaçu became the only municipality in the Americas to join the International Tourism Alliance of Silk Road Cities. The formalization took place in the city of Jingdezhen, China, between the 31st of August and the 6th of September, in the presence of André Alliana, secretary of Tourism and Strategic Projects of Foz do Iguaçu, and Jihad Ahmad Abu Ali, director of International Affairs.

The Alliance, which is an initiative of the Chinese Ministry of Culture and Tourism, brings together 58 cities and 26 countries. The objective is to establish cooperation and fraternity between member cities, in addition to promoting the development of social and cultural exchanges.

With its inclusion in the Alliance, Foz do Iguaçu expands into international tourism, especially Asian tourism. The expectation is that the city will participate in international forums and joint promotions, increasing its visibility and attracting more tourists.
