Grande ABC, a traditionally industrial region in the state of São Paulo, Brazil, could gain new automakers. The ABC Metalworkers’ Union announced the signing of a protocol of intentions with representatives of the Chinese companies Beijing Peak Automotive and Chery, which would be willing to produce electric buses, among other vehicles in this region.
The agreement was signed on the 6th of July in Brasilia, but was only published on the 12th of July. The meeting of the trade unionists with the representatives of the companies discussed the importance of the region for the Brazilian automotive sector. “The commitment to make investments of this size in our region is great news, because it brings more jobs, income, industrial growth and trade in the ABC,” said Moisés Selerges, president of the union.
In early July, the entity had already received a visit from representatives of another Chinese company, Sinomach, who also expressed interest in manufacturing electric buses in the Greater ABC.
