China’s State Council on Tuesday unveiled a blueprint, dubbed as “Made in China 2025”, aiming to upgrade the nation’s manufacturing sector, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
The blueprint is “the first 10-year action plan designed to transform China from a manufacturing giant into a world manufacturing power,” the report said.
“Made in China 2025” will be followed by two more plans to improve even further the country’s manufacturing strength by the year 2049, Xinhua quoted the State Council saying in a statement.
“The key to creating a new driver for economic growth … lies in the manufacturing sector,” it added.
The blueprint outlines 10 key manufacturing sectors, including aerospace equipment, ocean engineering, high-tech ships, railway equipment, energy conservation and energy-efficient vehicles.
The statement also identified nine priorities for the next decade, including fostering innovation in the manufacturing sector, promoting Chinese brands and service-orientated manufacturing.
