Chinese state-owned China Road and Bridge Corp (CRBC) has built or renovated more than 1,500 kilometres of highways in Angola since 2006, state-run news agency Xinhua reported.
The latest example is the recently completed revamp of a 200-kilometre highway linking the northern coastal cities of Caxito and N’zeto. The project, with an US$500-million investment from the Angolan government, was completed at the end of 2014, according to the report.
The road improvement shortened the travelling time between Caxito and N’zeto from 12 hours to fewer than three hours, as the drivers now feel “comfortable” to drive as fast as 120 kilometres an hour with the improved road conditions, said Zhang Weimin, one of CRBC’s senior managers for Angolan projects.
CRBC is currently building a new government-funded hospital in Angola, Xinhua reported.
