Portugal is Europe’s fifth largest exporter of wines to the China market, according to the Portuguese trade body ViniPortugal.
Cátia Moura, the association’s area manager for China and Singapore, made the remark during a promotional event in China, Portuguese news agency Lusa reported.
Portuguese wines are becoming “increasingly popular” among Chinese consumers, Ms Moura said.
She added: “Within 10 years, we will see more Portuguese wines served in Chinese restaurants. That is what we are working for.”
France, Spain, Italy and Germany are, according to Ms Moura, the top four European wine exporters to China.
