A delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao took part in the “Macao Dynamic Week” activity in Changzhou, Jiangsu, from 21 to 23 November. The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao set up a Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion – on a temporary basis – as part of the initiative. The Pavilion aimed to boost economic and trade cooperation and exchanges between Jiangsu, Macao and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

While in Changzhou, the Forum Macao delegation visited several local businesses, to promote in Mainland China the business opportunities available in Portuguese-speaking Countries. The site visits also helped to promote Macao’s role as a cooperation platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

On November 22, the Forum Macao delegation attended the opening ceremony of the “Macao Dynamic Week” and toured the site of the event.

Forum Macao’s Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion – at the event venue, Changzhou’s Xitaihu Mingdu International Conference Center – featured products, information materials, photographs and videos from the relevant countries. The Pavilion’s aim was to promote respectively the main exports, the business and investment environment, and the economy of each of the eight Portuguese-speaking Countries, namely Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste. The Pavilion also promoted the role of Forum Macao as a multilateral mechanism and Macao’s positioning as a service platform.

The products displayed from the Portuguese-speaking Countries and the enormous potential for cooperation between these countries and China attracted the attention of local business people and the attention of the general public attending the “Macao Dynamic Week”.

During their stay in Changzhou, the representatives from the Permanent Secretariat visited the facilities respectively of a leading auto parts company, and of an international supplier of smart photovoltaic systems. They also took part in exchanges with local business representatives.

The “Macao Dynamic Week” allowed the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao to promote among the Changzhou business community, the business and investment environment – and relevant policies – of Portuguese-speaking Countries. The event also helped to further Portuguese-speaking Countries’ knowledge of Jiangsu’s potential for economic development.

The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao has been continuously supporting cooperation and exchanges between Jiangsu, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries, while helping Chinese companies to invest abroad and attract more inward investment. Such support from the Permanent Secretariat takes advantage of Forum Macao’s role as a multilateral mechanism, and of Macao’s positioning as a cooperation platform.
