The Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Forum Macao) held on October 11 a lunch specially to promote the upcoming Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Food Festival. The latter is included in the programme of the 11th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The lunch was hosted at the FW Rio Grill & Capriccio Italian Restaurant in Macau Fisherman’s Wharf. It was attended by representatives from, respectively, Chinese-language media and Portuguese-language media.

During the lunch, the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen, delivered a presentation to the media representatives regarding the programme of the 11th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. The festival highlights include music and dance performances, arts exhibitions, theatre performances, a handicraft fsir, and food promotion events. Ms Xu said the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao would continue to explore innovative collaboration models, in order to expand cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

Ms Xu stated she hoped the media would continue to report on – and support – the work of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, so as to help promote Macao’s positioning as a cooperation platform between China and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The 2019 edition of the Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Food Festival features chefs respectively from Angola, Brazil, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Timor-Leste, plus Macao. The chefs were invited to prepare jointly a special menu – to be available for seven days starting on October 12 at FW Rio Grill & Capriccio Italian Restaurant in Macau Fisherman’s Wharf – offering customers a unique journey thought the various cuisines from Portuguese-speaking Countries.

During the special lunch event on October 11, the attending media representatives were able to taste some of the dishes to be featured in the Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Food Festival. They also engaged with the participating chefs, and learned more about the activities included in the 11th Cultural Week of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

An aggregate of four culinary workshops on food from the Portuguese-speaking Countries – involving the guest chefs – will be held across two days, October 16 and October 18. Macao Institute for Tourism Studies and the Macau University of Science and Technology will respectively act as workshop hosts.
