A delegation led by Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the Macao SAR Ms Shen Beili visited the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao on the afternoon of March 1.


The delegation received a warm welcome from the Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ms Xu Yingzhen. Ms Xu expressed thanks for the support given to Forum Macao by the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and gave an introduction to the delegation regarding the tasks undertaken by Forum Macao, as well as its work plan for 2019.


During the visit, Ms Shen made positive remarks regarding Forum Macao’s achievements in making Macao a “Platform for Trade Cooperation Between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”. Ms Shen expressed a wish that Forum Macao should continue to play its platform role well, in order to foster the development of Mainland China, Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao, as well as to grasp the opportunities from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area initiative. Forum Macao should also continue to contribute to international cooperation as required by the “Belt and Road” initiative, Ms Shen said.


The Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support Forum Macao in all its tasks in a bid to promote jointly a deeper level of cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.


Ms Shen’s delegation exchanged views with the representatives of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao on various topics including the Belt and Road initiative, and Macao’s platform role.
