Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao promotes in Tianjin the Portuguese-speaking Countries and Macao’s platform role

A delegation from the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), also known as Forum Macao, took part in the “Dynamic Macao Week” in Tianjin, from July 12 to 14. The delegation was led by Deputy Secretary-General of Forum Macao, Mr Rodrigo Brum.


Forum Macao’s participation aimed to support promotional activities launched by the Macao SAR Government. It also aimed to optimise application of the Forum Macao mechanism and Macao’s role as a services platform for trade cooperation, in the context of the relationship between Tianjin, Macao and the Portuguese-speaking Countries.


Forum Macao’s involvement in “Dynamic Macao Week” in Tianjin was also aimed at promoting the investment and business environment of the member countries of Forum Macao, in order to promote economic and trade cooperation between Portuguese-speaking Countries and Mainland China. The initiative included activities related to economic and trade matters, as well as visits to local companies.


The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao organised the installation of the “Portuguese-speaking Countries’ Pavilion” at the Meijiang Convention and Exhibition Center in Tianjin. Displays at the Pavilion included traditional products from Portuguese-speaking Countries, with accompanying written explanations, photographs and videos. The Pavilion also helped to promote the business and investment environments of the eight Portuguese-speaking member countries of Forum Macao, namely: Angola, Brazil, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor Leste.


The delegation of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao participated in several activities during the trip, including: the opening ceremony of the “Dynamic Macao Week” in Tianjin; the Tianjin-Macao Trade Exchange Session and Presentation of Products from Portuguese-speaking Countries; the Forum on Development of Innovation and Entrepreneurship among Overseas Chinese in Binhai New Area; the Tianjin-Macao Young Entrepreneurs Exchange Session; and the Tianjin-Macao Tourism Exchange Session.


During its stay in Tianjin, the delegation also visited local companies, namely Tianjin Jintak Garments and Tianjin Shanhaiguan Beverage Co Ltd.


Visits of delegations led by Forum Macao to Provinces and Municipalities of Mainland of China aim to promote further the business environment of Portuguese-speaking Countries; as well as to publicise more fully the work being done by Forum Macao and to highlight the role of Macao as a service platform. These initiatives also aim to expand networks of contacts and strengthen exchanges, promoting further the cooperation between Mainland China, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
