A delegation of the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao) – including the participants in the International Law and Trade Law Conference for Portuguese-speaking Countries – will travel to Taiyuan in Shanxi province, Mainland China. They will participate in the ‘Macao Week’ activities in that city, as part of a delegation from Macao that will also attend the event, which includes the ‘Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair’. The visit will take place between June 25 and 27.

The Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao will have a Portuguese-speaking Countries Pavilion during the event and will also hold seminars on business co-operation between Shanxi, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The Portuguese-speaking Countries Pavilion will be at the China Taiyuan Coal Transaction Centre – Exhibition Centre, Hall 2 and 3, for the whole of ‘Macao Week’ and the ‘Dynamic Macao Business and Trade Fair’. The pavilion initiative aims to support the promotional activities of the Macao SAR Government; better publicise the work being done by Forum Macao; highlight the role of Macao as a service platform; and explain the investment environment and business opportunities in Portuguese-speaking Countries.

The pavilion will also highlight the social and economic development of seven Portuguese-speaking Countries, namely, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor. It will show traditional products from those nations, with additional explanatory photographs and texts.

At 2.30pm on June 26 there will be a seminar on Business Co-operation between Shanxi, Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries. It will be held at the West Wing, 1/F Multi-function Hall of the Bing Zhou Hotel.

The activities organised during the visit to Taiyuan intend to promote the role of Forum Macao, and Macao’s role generally, as a service platform. They will introduce the investment and business communities to relevant investment and trade policies in Portuguese-speaking Countries. The initiative also aims to promote a pragmatic co-operation between companies in Mainland China – in particular of Shanxi Province – and companies in Macao and Portuguese-speaking Countries.

During the visit, support will also be provided for exchanges between companies from Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, creating favourable conditions for companies that intend to invest and find partners in Portuguese-speaking Countries. This activity will also strengthen Macao’s role as a service platform for economic and commercial co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
