Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao attends the Promotion Session of SCODA

On the afternoon of October 20, the “Promotion Session of the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA)” was held at Wynn Macau. The Deputy Secretary of the Party Working Committee and Executive Deputy Director of the Administrative Committee of SCODA, Li Gang, Deputy Director of the Office of Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao Affairs of the Qingdao Municipal People’s Government, Qu Keshi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao, Ding Tian, and Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office, Cheng Wai Tong, attended the session and delivered speeches.


In his speech, Deputy Secretary-General Ding Tian recalled that the Permanent Secretariat attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) International Investment and Trade Expo in April 2021 and organized the “Exchange Meeting for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” together with the Administrative Committee of SCODA. He added that the events provided an exchange platform for cooperation between SCO member states and Portuguese-speaking Countries in various areas and laid a solid foundation for the SCO and Forum Macao to reinforce exchanges and mutual learning. He also pledged that the Permanent Secretariat will earnestly implement the consensus reached during the Extraordinary Ministerial Meeting of Forum Macao held in April 2022, to vigorously promote cooperation between Forum Macao and different sectors in areas such as economy, trade and culture, fully leverage the role of Macao as the “Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries” to provide services for enterprises to promote investment opportunities and develop potential projects, and in the meantime, maintain communication with SCODA and encourage both sides to learn from each other and work together to explore opportunities for deepening cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries.
