Permanent Secretariat of Forum Macao to take part in second series, starting today, of Webinars on International Cooperation Against Covid-19

A second series of Webinars on International Cooperation Against Covid-19 is due to start today, aiming to promote international cooperation in the fight against the novel coronavirus responsible for the Covid-19 disease. A total of four sessions is planned for the second series. They will take place respectively on July 14, 21 and 28, and on August 4.


The second series is being put together by a number of bodies, including: China’s Embassy in Brazil; China’s Consulate-General in Rio de Janeiro; the Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Sichuan Provincial People’s Government; and the State Government of Minas Gerais, in Brazil. The series aims to further international cooperation in the fight against Covid-19; to share information on front-line experience of tackling the pandemic; to promote research on traditional Chinese medicine; and to deepen economic and trade collaboration.


Each of the four sessions of the second series of the Webinars will be conducted in Chinese and in Portuguese. Each session will be delivered in videoconference format, with live online streaming to international audiences via YouTube; and live online streaming to Mainland China audiences via Kuaishou.


The first session takes place on July 14 at 8pm Beijing time (9am Rio de Janeiro time). It is titled “Integrating Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine in Fighting Against the Epidemic”. Experts participating in the seminar include: Mr Yang Sijin, Dean of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Southwest Medical University in Sichuan Province; Mr Lu Yun, Chief Physician of the Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine; Mr Huang Xiaobo, Director of the Center for Intensive Care Medicine of Sichuan Provincial People’s Hospital; Mr Rodrigo de Castro, Sub-Secretary for Events and International Relations at the Secretariat for Culture and Creative Economy of the State Government of Rio de Janeiro; Mr André Wan Wen Tsai, President of the Medical College of Acupuncture of São Paulo; Mr Marcos Freitas, Professor and Coordinator at the International Virtual Institute of Global Change; Mr Edmilson Migowisk, Epidemiologist and Professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ); and Mr Yu Tao, postdoctoral fellow at the Federal University of Santa Maria.

The respective series of Webinars on International Cooperation Against Covid-19 are supported by the Permanent Secretariat of the Forum for Economic and Trade Co-operation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao).
