On February 17, the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) launched the China Trade and Investment Profile 2025. The survey shows that China maintained its position as the main Asian investor in Brazil, with a Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) stock of US$ 45.3 billion in 2023, a growth of 22.1% compared to 2022. As the result, China ranks as the 9th largest investor in Brazil, according to official data from the Central Bank of Brazil.

According to the Brazil-China Business Council (CEBC), this number could be even higher, in the estimated order of US$ 73 billion, which would make China the fifth largest investor in Brazil in terms of total stock, behind only the United States, the Netherlands, France and Spain, respectively.

Since 2021, the volume of Chinese investment in the country has been setting annual records. Between 2014 and 2024, 137 greenfield investment projects with Chinese capital were announced in Brazil, totaling US$ 10.6 billion. Investments are concentrated in the energy, infrastructure and automotive sectors.
