On March 18, Angola's Minister of Mineral Resources, Oil and Gas, Diamantino Azevedo, visited the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the China National Chemical Engineering Company (CNCEC).

On the occasion, the minister, accompanied by the chairmen of the Boards of Directors of ANPG and Sonangol, met with the management of the Chinese oil companies where they discussed issues such as opportunities in Angola for the exploration of onshore and offshore oil blocks, refining and petrochemicals, trade in crude oil, development of ammonia and urea, solid minerals, among other issues of mutual interest.

The Angolan delegation also pointed out the challenges of building the Lobito Refinery in the agreed time and quality, as well as the possibility of adding a petrochemical component to the project. The two delegations also talked about the "Amufert project" linked to the production of ammonia and urea, elements that when added to potassium and phosphates result in fertilizers for agriculture.
