According to information from the National Association of Motor Vehicle Manufacturers (Anfavea), last year the volume of imports of Chinese streetcars registered a notable increase of 59.2%, totaling US$ 5.790 billion. At the same time, the number of Asian EVs sold in Brazil grew by 482% in 2023.

EV imports went from 0.4% in 2021 to 8% in 2022, rising by +27% in 2023 and reaching 35%. This scenario of exponential progress points to greater consumer interest in combustion-powered models.

For 2024, analysts expect the sustainable car segment to continue to grow in Brazil, driven by the entry of the Omoda and Jaecoo brands, from the Chery International group, into the country. Great Wall Motors (GWM), a Chinese car manufacturer, plans to invest heavily in Brazil with the opening of a factory in Iracemópolis, in the interior of São Paulo, following in the footsteps of BYD with its factory in Camaçari (BA).
