New António Agostinho Neto International Airport opens in Luanda

The New Luanda António Agostinho Neto International Airport (NAIL), which cost 2.8 billion dollars, will be inaugurated on 10 November. The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) was responsible for building the airport.


NAIL, located in the district of Bom Jesus, in the municipality of Icolo e Bengo, 42 kilometres from the centre of the city of Luanda, covers a total area of 75 square kilometres and is designed to accommodate the world's largest commercial aircraft, category F (Airbus - A380), with the capacity to carry around 15 million passengers a year, of which 10 million are international passengers and the rest domestic. 


With two parallel runways, an aircraft parking apron, a maintenance apron, a cargo apron and an insulation apron, it is designed to handle an annual cargo volume of 130,000 tonnes.
