Chinese Ambassador to Guinea-Bissau Jin Hongjun hopes to give new momentum to the process of strengthening Sino-Guinea-Bissau relations, the Chinese Embassy in Bissau says.

A written statement issued by the Embassy quotes Mr Jin as expressing this hope when he met Guinea-Bissau Foreign Minister João Butiam Có for talks last week.

The embassy says Mr Jin and the Minister discussed progress made in Sino-Guinea-Bissau collaborative projects in farming and infrastructure. Mr Jin said China was willing to work more closely with Guinea-Bissau in several fields.

Guinea-Bissau is committed to strengthening its ties to China, and will strive to reach goals set at the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation last year, the Chinese Embassy in Bissau quotes Mr Có as saying.
