Solar panel maker Jetion Solar (China) Co., Ltd. says it will supply panels with a combined capacity of 219 megawatts for the WElink Energy Solara4 solar farm in Vaqueiros, in the south of Portugal, which is the largest unsubsidised solar power project in Europe.
Jetion Solar issued a written statement saying it will supply over 661,000 polycrystalline solar modules.
The statement says state-owned China National Building Materials Group Corp. will be in charge of the project as a whole, including the design, procurement and construction.
It says the Solara4 farm is expected to supply electricity to over 150,000 households and, in doing so, to save the atmosphere from having to cope with the 500,000 or more tonnes of carbon dioxide that dirtier forms of power generation would produce each year in supplying those households.
The solar panels will all be installed by the end of May, and the solar farm should be connected to the grid by September, Jetion Solar says.
