The Mozambican Tax Authority collected about 34 billion meticais (US$555.9 million) in revenue in the first quarter of this year, having set out to collect just 31 billion meticais, O País reports.
The Mozambican newspaper quotes Mozambican Tax Authority Director-General Augusto Tacarindua as saying its first-quarter performance may allow the authority to hit its target for this year of 232 billion meticais in revenue.
The authority collected 202.25 billion meticais in taxes last year, about 8.5 percent more than it aimed to collect.
