The newly appointed Portuguese consul in Guangzhou, André Sobral Cordeiro, has said his consular premises in the southern Chinese city will open “very soon”, Lusa reports.
The Portuguese news agency quotes Mr Cordeiro as saying he has presented his credentials to the Chinese authorities but that he is awaiting the completion of some renovation works before opening the consulate.
The report says the consulate will serve the southern Chinese provinces of Guangdong, Hainan, Hunan and Fujian, and the Guangxi Autonomous Region.
The new consulate will be the fourth Portuguese consulate in China, the others being in Beijing, Shanghai and Macau.
