A Chinese maker of sports equipment, Lee Sheng, has agreed to sponsor the Cabo Verdean national Olympic committee until the end of next year, Inforpress reports.

The Cabo Verdean state-run news agency quotes a written statement issued by the committee as saying Lee Sheng will begin by providing 100 volleyballs, footballs and basketballs.

The committee will use some of the balls for its Olympic Checkpoint, a drive to spread the playing of Olympic sports by lending sports materials to residents in remote parts of the country, which is meant to expand the pool of athletes it has to choose from, Inforpress says.
