China imported about 50 million tonnes of soybean from Brazil in the first 10 months of this year, Notícias Agrícolas reports, citing data given by the Brazilian Association of Vegetable Oil Industries.

The Brazilian publication quotes the head of the association, Fábio Trigueirinho, as saying Brazilian exports of soybean show no sign of slowing in the next few months, which is unusual for this time of year.

In a separate report, Reuters says China bought 3.4 million tonnes of soybean from Brazil last month, 132 percent more than a year earlier.

Brazil was the source of 60 percent of the soybean imported by China the first 10 months of this year, the news agency says.
