The Brazilian government has published its first bi-monthly report on Chinese investment in Brazil, Xinhua reports.

Chinese state-run news agency says the reports will serve as a register of Chinese investments in Brazil.

The news agency quotes an official of the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Jorge Arbache, as saying the reports would allow better understanding of Chinese investment in Brazil.

“China has become not only Brazil’s main economic partner in the field of trade, but also in investments,” Mr Arbache said.

The first report says four Chinese investments in Brazil, together worth over US$3.1 billion, were confirmed in August and September this year.

It says that since 2009 permission has been given for 91 Chinese investments in Brazil, together worth over US$50 billion, and that most of the investment is in energy and mining, Xinhua says.
