A group of Hong Kong businesspeople will acquire a tourist village in the central Portuguese municipality of Elvas, becoming the first Asian investors in the area, Lusa reports.

The Portuguese news agency quotes Elvas Mayor Nuno Mocinha as saying the Hong Kong investors will buy Elxadai Parque and rehabilitate it for tourism.

The report says the present owner’s website indicates that the facility contains a 3-star hotel and 3-star tourist apartments.

Tourism in Elvas has been growing since the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation classified the fortifications of the old city as World Heritage in 2012.
