A subsidiary of commercial aviation company HNA Group Co., Ltd. has bought a stake in Rio de Janeiro International Airport, Reuters reports.
The news agency cites a senior Brazilian government official, who confirmed the sale, although no one from HNA Group was available to comment.
Before the latest purchase, Singapore airport operator Changi Airport Group Pte. Ltd. and Brazilian engineering company Odebrecht SA owned 51 percent of the Rio de Janeiro Airport. HNA Group is understood to have purchased the Odebrecht holding.
The airport’s minority shareholding is held by Brazil’s regulator of civil aviation infrastructure, Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil.
