Portugal needs to raise its profile in Mainland China to improve the popularity of its products there, reports Lusa, a Portuguese news agency.
The Lusa report quotes the opinion of Pedro Aires de Abreu, AICEP’s Trade and Investment Commissioner in Shanghai, who says there is “a lot of work to be done” in the Mainland.
“If there is an effort to make Portugal – its culture and history – [well] known, this will give good name to its products,” he said.
He told Lusa that e-commerce was the future for Portuguese companies eager to gain access to the world’s second biggest economy.
“Most of our companies are small- and medium-sized enterprises… [e-commerce] eliminates the needs to have a warehouse and agent in China to do business,” the report quoted him as saying.
