Brazil and the mainland Chinese province of Guangdong have agreed to set up a working group to consider measures to facilitate bilateral trade in agricultural products, the Macauhub website reports.

Macauhub says the agreement was made at a meeting in Brazil between Guangdong Provincial Government Deputy Secretary­-General Ji Jiaqi and Brazilian Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Food Supply Blairo Maggi.

The website quotes Mr Ji as proposing that universities and research centres in Brazil and Guangdong be represented in the working group. Brazil is Guangdong’s second-biggest trading partner after the United States.

Brazil has proposed that the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation, known as Embrapa, be represented in the working group.
