Angolan company Sécil Marítima will be given a monopoly on maritime shipping of goods between Angola and China. The move is in order to minimise costs, announced Angola’s Transportation Minister, Augusto Tomás.

He was speaking last week following a meeting in Angola’s capital, Luanda, with representatives from Chinese companies operating in the African nation, the newspaper Jornal de Angola reported.

“This way, Angola will be able to defend better its interests regarding the import and export of goods,” the Minister said, as quoted by the media outlet.

The measure is part of a new logistics management model to be established between the two countries, Mr Tomás said. The move would also facilitate a shortening of the time it takes to get goods to their destination, the Minister added.
